Equisal Tapeworm Test
Equisal is a saliva test scientifically proven to effectively identify Tapeworm burdens in horses. The development of this saliva test removed the need for blood tests to identify tapeworm, making it more accessible and feasible for owners to use regularly.
Equine Tapeworm (Anoplocephala perfoliata), can cause serious health problems to the horse. They have been associated with colic and intestinal obstructions. Their lifecycle is unique compared to other common equine parasites, as they require an intermediate host called the orbited mite.
There are two active chemicals against tapeworm - Praziquantel and Pyrantel Embonate.
It is important that we reduce the unnecessary treatment for tapeworm and carry out regular testing to reduce anthelmintic resistance.
