What is Faecal Worm Egg Counting?
Faecal Egg Counting (FEC), is a diagnostic technique used to help identify parasitic worm burdens. The most common parasites detected in a FEC's are Ascarids and Strongyles.
As this risk of anthelmintic resistance develops we need to try and manage our animal's parasitic burdens and promote good animal health. By perofming tests before treatment, we are helping to reduce to unnecessary use of anthelmintics.
EFEC uses the McMaster technique to perform FEC and performs regular quality control checks.
